A day in the life of a running lifting yogi

Since last week I blogged about what a typical day of meals looks like for this trail-running, strength-training, personal-trainer yogi, I thought I would show you what a typical schedule looks like for me, too. I love reading about how other bloggers and fitness professionals spend their time – although many of us share the same passions, have busy day-to-day lives and still somehow manage write blog posts multiple times per week, how we go about getting it all done is so different.

I feel like I should preface my daily schedule by mentioning that I currently live alone, only have my dog with me on weekends (my parents like to keep him around for company during the week), don’t have kids, have a long-term boyfriend and am a crazy-early riser. So don’t be alarmed be my unsual waking and working hours πŸ™‚

A day in the life of a running lifting yogi

3:45 a.m. – Wake up before alarm. Roll out of bed and do a few sun salutations while oatmeal is cooking and coffee is brewing.

4:00 – 4:45 a.m. – Eat breakfast and read emails/catch up on social media posts.

4:45 – 5:30 a.m. – Write the day’s blog post and read/comment on other blogs.

5:40 – 6:40 a.m. – Work out (either a run or strength training session).

6:40 – 7:00 a.m. – Make lunch.

7:00 – 7:50 a.m.Β  – Get ready for work.

7:50 – 8:00 a.m. – Walk to work (I know, I’m lucky I live so close!).

8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Work at my day job in corporate communications. I usually go for two 15-minute walk breaks during the day while at work, have lunch at noon and have a snack at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

4:30 – 4:40 p.m. – Walk home.

4:40 – 5:00 p.m. – Get changed into workout gear and head to Koru Personal Training.

5:30 – 6:30 p.m. – Train a client.

6:50 – 7:30 p.m. – Make dinner at home OR head to Matt’s house for dinner.

If I’m at home:

7:30 – 8:00 p.m. – Have dinner.

8:00 – 9:00 p.m. – Get ready for bed and either respond to client emails, read a book, write in my journal, do yoga or meditate for about 45 minutes before bed.

9:00 p.m. – Bed time!

If I’m at my boyfriend’s house:

7:30 – 8:00 p.m. – Have dinner.

8:00 – 10:00 p.m. – Watch Netflix and have tea and dark chocolate, walk the dog or meet up with friends for drinks.

10:30 p.m. – Bed time! (While Matt watches sports highlights)

Although my weekdays are pretty jam-packed, my weekends look nothing like this. I actually sleep in past 7 a.m., have a leisurely breakfast with Matt, go hiking with the dogs and then get to whatever I need to do that day later on in the afternoon. I don’t blog on the weekends and tend to stay off social media completely, save for a few Instagram photos if I go for a trail run. Could I wake up later during the week and perhaps get my blog posts ready on Sundays instead? I could. But I find right now I feel much more creative and wanting to write in the wee hours of the morning during the week, and my crazy-early schedule seems to work for me for the time being. I’m sure it will change eventually as life circumstances change, but for now this is how I make it all work.

What does your daily schedule look like? Are you a morning person? When do you write blog posts/make time for your passions? Do you make a blogging schedule or just write when you feel like it?Β
